I like that you chose to capture something that's important to you. You picked a tough subject as it's hard to get close and get a good angle on the basketball goal. To really make these images pop and draw the viewers attention you really need to play more with capturing the texture or have an extreme angle or get a ladder and get extremely close...
sometimes the challenge to photography is planning it out and getting the supplies you need to really get a successful shot.
